About Alexandre Bertin
Alexandre Bertin is the producer of Sapucaia Cachaça and one of the leading figures in the Brazilian sugarcane spirit industry.
He helped establish the São Paulo Cachaça Chamber and the São Paulo State Cachaça Sector Association, and also contributed to the development of tourism routes in the Pirassununga region.
Alexandre Bertin is a businessman committed to preserving and promoting Sapucaia Cachaça, one of Brazil's most traditional and distinctive brands. Founded in 1933 in Pindamonhangaba, in the Paraíba Valley near Rio de Janeiro, Sapucaia Distillery has a rich history deeply connected to Brazilian culture and artisanal traditions.
Since acquiring the brand in 2008, Bertin has worked to preserve its heritage while expanding Sapucaia's international presence.
Under his leadership, production was transferred to Pirassununga, in the northern region of São Paulo state. The Bertin family has owned land in this area for more than a century. This transition brought new investments aimed at modernization while preserving traditional methods and expanding exports.
Beyond his business activities, Mr. Bertin has played an important role in the cachaça industry. He was one of the founders and the first president of the São Paulo Cachaça Sector Association, working to strengthen and regulate the industry.
During his tenure, he helped create and implement the first São Paulo State Cachaça Competition, an initiative designed to promote quality and increase recognition of the beverage.
Mr. Bertin also served as President of the Pirassununga Tourism Council (COMTUR) and led the creation of the Cachaça Route （www.roteirodacachaca.com.br) , a tourism project designed to promote distilleries and their history.
These initiatives demonstrate his commitment to promoting cachaça as Brazil's national spirit.
His vision extends beyond business. In 2024, a new distillery featuring an urban bar concept was inaugurated, creating a dedicated space for promoting and experiencing Brazil's national spirit. Through events, courses, and tastings, he continues to educate consumers, cultivate new enthusiasts, and act as an ambassador for Brazilian culture.
