Tradition and Heritage
Cachaça is Brazil's signature distilled spirit, produced exclusively from fresh sugarcane juice and typically bottled between 38% and 48% alcohol by volume. Renowned for its rich heritage and distinctive character, it occupies a unique place in Brazilian culture.
In 2001, the Brazilian government formally defined Cachaça as a geographical indication product and established that authentic Cachaça must be made exclusively from fresh sugarcane juice. Today, many of the premium expressions imported into the United States are traditionally distilled in copper pot stills. Demand for Cachaça has grown remarkably in recent decades, with U.S. imports rising from approximately 54,000 liters in 2005 to more than 9 million liters by 2015, highlighting the increasing global appreciation for Brazil's national spirit.
